Have a more meaningful life with the 5 daily rituals

How do you start each day?

It’s easy to get caught in the stresses of daily life. Vast technological advances haven’t eased daily life for most of us. We’re bombarded by a growing to-do list, distractions, commitments, and noise each day. More choices lead to more decision-making and tension.

The stress keeps us away from a meaningful life full of health and happiness. Thankfully, we live life one day at a time – the problems we are bound to face won’t hit us all at once. How we live each day is what counts. This is where having a positive set of daily rituals come in. Give yourself the motivation to live the life you’ve always wanted with a set of positive daily rituals.

1. Set the mood.

Make it easy to find the motivation to start tasks you don’t find enjoyable by setting the stage. Do you find it hard to exercise? Make it a daily ritual to put on your workout outfit, no matter how lazy you feel. The quick act of putting on your running shoes will get your mind in a more willing mood for physical activities. If writer’s block hits you, at least make an effort to turn on your computer and stare at a word processor on the screen. This gets the ball rolling and the likelihood of you completing tasks will be significantly higher.

2. Be grateful each morning and evening.

Meditating on a list of things you’re grateful for is easy and will do wonders for your mood. What is difficult is remembering to stick to this habit, especially when you have a lot on your plate.

To make it a habit, it helps to practice this simultaneously with a task you already do daily. For example, think of how thankful you are for the good things in your life while sipping your morning coffee.

3. Do something healthy.

Year after year, medical research has shown the importance of exercise and proper nutrition. Making it a habit to do something simple and healthy each day can do wonders for your body, mood, and productivity at work. It could be something as simple as doing squats while watching your favourite television show.

It helps to find the motivation to exercise daily by choosing exercise you find fun. Today skip dessert, tomorrow eat more greens and sleep earlier this Sunday – diverse and simple healthy choices everyday will add up to a significantly better life.

4. Choose one priority task and make sure it gets done.

It’s normal to have a growing do-list. No matter how long your list of chores is, picking and completing that one most important activity will give you a feeling of fulfilment. Choosing one vital task each day will propel you forward, giving you a pat on the back, and inspiring you to work harder. Think of it as a domino effect.

5. Don’t forget to relax.

Working more doesn’t always lead to a better and more productive life. We’ve all heard the phrase, “work smarter, not harder.” Well, relax better and you will work smarter!

Our minds are more creative and open to ideas while in a state of relaxation. Once you return to work, your energized mind will be able to tackle problems and come up with efficient solutions to get the job done.

Begin tomorrow with positive daily rituals. Be creative. Find the motivation to stick with small yet consistent changes. They will do wonders in leading you to a more meaningful life.
